VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!

We currently have openings to serve as an adjudicator on the NAJC Endowment Funds committee.

NAJC Endowment Funds

The NAJC Endowment Funds were created when the Japanese Canadian Redress Foundation entrusted the NAJC to administer a Sports, Education, Arts Development (SEAD) and Cultural Development (CD) Program. It is the intent of the Redress Foundation and the NAJC to ensure that the benefits realized from the Redress Agreement continue to benefit and enhance the development of the Japanese Canadian community and its members into the new millennium.

More information about these funds can be found here:

The NAJC Endowment Fund Committee is a panel of five volunteers that are engaged with the difficult task of reviewing grant applications received for our two funding programs and identifying the successful grant recipients.  The committee is formed in April of each year and meets via Zoom about 2-3 times between April and May to review the applications received and to decide on the grants that are to be awarded.

The NAJC is currently seeking volunteers to serve on this committee.  The commitment will require:

  • Attending two or three meetings of the committee (averaging between 1-3 hours in length).  These meetings occur in April and May and are conducted over Zoom (online)
  • Spending time reviewing grant applications that have been received (between 15-30 applications are usually coming in each allocation round)
  • Possible participation in promotional activities related to the fund
