Federal funding to support community organizations addressing the impacts of the pandemic

NAJC has become aware of federal funding to support community organizations addressing the impacts of the pandemic.

NAJC President Lorene Oikawa attended a meeting with ESDC and the Federal Anti-Racism Secretariat on October 2, 2020 to discuss the funding. The NAJC will be sharing the information with member organizations and other community organizations across Canada. Oikawa made several recommendations to increase accessibility and support smaller communities.

Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) launched a $350 million Emergency Community Support Fund to support community organizations helping vulnerable people during the COVID-19 crisis. On October 5, 2020, the second round of the Emergency Community Support Fund will be available.

The fund is available to non-profit organizations and charitable organizations. There are three organizations who are managing the fund. Besides the granting program there is also a Personal Protective Equipment and Training Program. See the infographic for information on how to apply.
