The NAJC was shocked at the news of the January 1st earthquake in the Ishikawa Prefecture and the January 2nd tragic crash at Haneda airport. This is the time when most of us are with family and friends and enjoying special Japanese food and traditions. We offer our support and are hoping for the best. We encourage everyone to follow legitimate news sources to avoid any confusion when so many are looking for updates and crucial information.
If anyone has family and/or friends visiting the Ishikawa Prefecture, there is an email helpline in response to the earthquake. It’s run by the Ishikawa Consultation for Foreign Residents. They can respond in several languages including Japanese, English, Vietnamese, Chinese, Indonesian, Thai and Burmese.
