We are thrilled to announce one of the most eagerly anticipated events on Calgary’s cultural calendar – the Calgary Japanese Festival, fondly known as “Omatsuri”.
Happening on Friday, August 11 (7pm-11pm) and Saturday, August 12 (10am-5pm) at Max Bell Center, Omatsuri is a vibrant showcase of the rich cultural heritage of Japan, right here in Calgary. This traditional summer festival offers a mesmerizing blend of live performances, authentic cuisine, arts, crafts, and a variety of engaging activities, promising to immerse you in the heart of Japanese culture.
Whether you’re captivated by the powerful rhythms of Taiko drumming, fascinated by the delicate grace of traditional Japanese dance, or simply craving some delectable Japanese food, Omatsuri is set to provide an enchanting experience for attendees of all ages and interests.
We’re particularly excited to let you know that the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) will be participating in Omatsuri on Saturday, August 12! We’ll have our own booth where you can meet our team, learn more about our initiatives, and participate in some exciting activities we have planned. We warmly invite you to drop by and say hello. It’s an excellent opportunity for us to connect with you, and for you to learn more about the NAJC community.
We can’t wait to see you at the Calgary Japanese Festival, where the spirit of “omatsuri” will be alive and flourishing. Together, let’s celebrate the rich essence of Japanese culture in Calgary.
Mark your calendars and join us at Omatsuri!
