Webinar: Asian Heritage Month

An Evening to Celebrate Asian Heritage Month in Canada

The Winnipeg Human Rights Committee would like to welcome you to the opportunity to celebrate Asian Heritage during the month of May.

The definition of "Asian" includes many different peoples and traditions such as those originating in East Asia (China, South Korea and Japan), South Asia (Bhutan, India, and Pakistan), Central Asia (Afghanistan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan), Southeast Asia (Brunei Darussalam, Philippines and Thailand) and Western Asia (Armenia, Bahrain, and Syria).  The list of countries is by no means exhaustive rather an intriguing look at the diversity of what lands and cultures are considered Asian.

To celebrate Asian Heritage Month virtually, the committee is hosting a webinar with three inspirational speakers – Lorene Oikawa, President, National Association of Japanese Canadians, Dora Ng, Youth Activist, Grassroots Organizer, Vancouver BC – Coast Salish Territories, and Dr. Art Miki, Director, Asian Heritage Month Society Manitoba – and a chance to meet our Public Service Alliance of Canada Prairies Regional Executive Vice President,  Marianne Hladun.
