QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
We have put together a Q&A to help address questions families may have about what can be funded and how to get help with your applications.
Q: What is Family Sharing & Healing, and who can apply?
A: Family Sharing & Healing is for families impacted by Government policies and actions of the 1940s who are encouraged to apply for up to $5,000 for projects tied to the core value of family healing, sharing and intergenerational trauma.
Please note that families are only eligible to apply to Category 1, Family Sharing & Healing, and are not able to apply to Categories 2 & 3 which are restricted to Organizations and Unincorporated Groups.
Q: What kinds of things will you fund?
A: Eligible sharing activities may include, but are not limited to:
- self-published books
- self-made art projects
- digital scrapbooks
- reflective storytelling
- oral histories
- family genealogy
- internment camp tours
- family counselling
Q: How do I apply?
A: Applications are made on our website jclegaciesfund.com/funding-streams/intergenerational-wellness. The application form will guide you through a series of questions, including a budget template. We have a downloadable worksheet that you can use to work out the details of your application before filling in the online form.
Q: My family wants to apply for a project that will take place this summer. Can we get approved in time to make our travel plans?
A: Families seeking grant funding for projects that involve travel during summer 2024 are encouraged to submit their project applications as early as possible. This will allow the Project Office to process and bring forward applications for assessment on a rolling basis prior to any travel taking place.
