Takashi Ohki – Task Team Chair: Volunteers and Staff Engagement
Takashi, who currently lives in St. Albert, Alberta, was born in Japan and came to the University of British Columbia’s graduate school in 1964. He obtained an MA in economics in 1966. He taught economics at university for 20 years and worked for the Alberta government for 20 years. He founded the Metro-Edmonton Japanese Community School in 1977 and served as President of the Edmonton Japanese Community Association from 1997 to 1999. He was Treasurer for the National Association of Japanese Canadians from 2009 to 2012, and he currently serves as a member of the NAJC Japanese New Immigrant Committee.
Takashi hopes to use his experience at local and national Japanese Canadian organizations and his skills in demographic analysis and research to support the work of the Capacity Building Initiative.
