Registration for September 21-23 NAJC Annual General Meeting and National Conference now Open!
Registration is now open for the NAJC Annual General Meeting and National Conference, to be held September 21 to 23 in Winnipeg. Full details can be found on the Delegate General Information document, and attendees should complete and return the AGM registration form and payment to national@najc.ca.
Early bird registration fees are applicable to all registrations returned and paid for by August 30, 2018. After that date, registration fees increase by 25 percent and will be permitted on a space available basis.
Join us in celebrating the 30th anniversary of Japanese-Canadian Redress at the NAJC’s 2018 AGM conference. From September 21-23 the Japanese Cultural Association of Manitoba and the National Association of Japanese Canadians will be hosting a series panels, dialogue sessions and workshops with the theme of Moving Forward After Injustice in Canada.
Arrive early on Friday for guided tours of the only national museum located outside of the National Capital Region. As a visitor at Canadian Museum for Human Rights (CMHR) you will be immersed in an interactive human rights experience that will get you inspired for the weekend’s main events.
Following the tour, you will attend the AGM and experience the sights, sounds and tastes of Manitoba at Winnipeg’s Japanese Cultural Centre. See displays from Japanese-Canadian artists and sample the works of Winnipeg’s own Japanese Master Chef, Sadao Ono.
Return to the CMHR on Saturday to dive into panel discussions with leaders from communities that have faced injustice in Canada. Enjoy a screening of the film “Facing Injustice: The Relocation of Japanese Canadians to Manitoba” to gain further insight into life as a Japanese-Manitoban. Later that evening, hear renowned Japanese-Canadian author, Mark Sakamoto, give the keynote address and see performances from local musicians and dancers at the gala dinner.
On Sunday you’ll learn about the NAJC’s efforts to support human rights initiatives and participate in a workshop led by the Young Leaders. At the end of the weekend you’ll have the knowledge and inspiration to support human rights in your community and across the world!
