NAJC Message

On behalf of the National Association of Japanese Canadians and its member organizations, I would like to offer our sincere condolences to the people of Japan and the Japanese Government for the loss of life and property in the recent earthquake and tsunami which has devastated parts  of  Miyagi Prefecture.  The NAJC applauds the humanitarian assistance offered by our Government.

I would also like to thank the many Canadians who have contacted our national office and the local chapters to express their concern and support.

Although no national disaster relief campaign is planned by the NAJC, each local chapter is free, as some are now doing, to organize their own initiatives.

If you wish to make a monetary donation, I would urge you to contact the local NAJC chapter in your area first to determine what is being done or make your donation directly to non-governmental organization such as the Canadian Red Cross who is working closely with the Japanese Red Cross.

Call the toll free number 1-800-418-1111 or on-line at www.redcross.ca/helpnow and identify your donation to “Japan Earthquake Relief.”

I am confident that the resilience of the people of Japan will help them to recover from this natural disaster.

Thank you again for your support.

Ken Noma, President

National Association of Japanese Canadians
