Runaway Horses – by Terry Watada
The seminal album of Japanese and Asian Canadian music, “Runaway Horses” first came out in 1977, a compilation of songs written by Terry Watada with a contribution by Martin Kobayakawa from 1970 to 1977. Not only did it contain representational music but it was played by Japanese Canadian musicians. Through the sponsorship of the NAJC Endowment Fund and the Hastings Park Foundation, the album has seen new life in compact disk form. “Runaway Horses” serves as more than historical artifact; it remains relevant today with its raw emotion and issue-driven lyrics. All profits will be donated to the Nikkei National Internment Memorial in New Denver.
