Japan Earthquake Relief Donation Drive

On Sunday March 20, 2011 from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the West Thunder Community Center (915 South Edward Street) the Lakehead Japanese Cultural Association (LJCA) along with the Thunder Bay Multicultural Association (TBMA) will be hosting a donation drive to respond to the needs of the victims of the natural disasters unfolding in Japan.  The goal of this drive is to motivate the citizens of Thunder Bay to make donations to the Canadian Red Cross, for the relief efforts ongoing in Japan.  A representative from the Canadian Red Cross will be present to answer any questions about the Red Cross’s involvement in relief efforts.

The LJCA,TBMA, along with all the corporate sponsors will be providing a light Japanese takeaway lunch to the first 300 individuals who donate $15.00 or more, as a sign of our gratitude for helping those in need.  Receipts will be issued by the Canadian Red Cross.

The LJCA and the TBMA would like to encourage all citizens of Northern Ontario to donate to the relief efforts that the Red Cross is involved with in Japan.

All cheques should be made out to the Canadian Red Cross and earmarked for “Japan Earthquake –Asia Pacific Tsunami Fund”.

The LJCA would also like to request that you contact your Member of Parliament, and tell him/her that you would like the Canadian Government to match the donations that Canadians make to this relief effort.
